Hakshel launched

Imphal, Nov 25: "Hakshel", a quarterly journal, of the All Manipur Anti Drugs Association (AMADA) was launched today at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
The ceremony was graced by MLA, Kshetrigao A/C, Th. Nandakishwar, Y. Sundari, vice president in charge AMADA, head office and M. Abhiram, deputy director of Manipur Aids Control Society (MACS), with chief guest, guest of honour and president.
While delivering his chief guest speech, MLA Nandakishwar, said that bringing a drug addicts towards the mainstream to lead a normal life is not an easy task however it was the burden duty of each and everyone in doing so, he said.
He further claimed that with many youths volunteering to fight the menace of drugs the rate of drugs abuse has sharply declined among the youths however bringing addicts to the mainstream to ensure a normal life is not an easy task adding that the parents of the youths has a greater role in doing so and complimented the efforts of the AMADA in spreading awareness.
M. Abhiram, in his speech, said that unemployment was among one of the caused of drugs abuse among the youths and said that since the detection of first HIV positive case in 1990 in the state concerned authority with joint venture with many NGOs has been fighting AIDS and the rate of HIV/AIDS has been lower to some extend however Manipur still remain the highest with 13 percent against 5 percent rate of the entire country.
