Food festival inaugurated at GM Hall

Imphal, Nov 20: The 2nd Manipur Chinjak Festival, 2009 was inaugurated by the tourism minister T.N. Haokip at Gandhi Memorial Hall, Imphal, this evening.

Speaking on the occasion the tourism minister maintained that introducing indigenous food of the state will certainly facilitate the growth of tourism and appreciated the youth who were behind such festivals.

He further stressed foods of the state would enhance the tourism and hospitality potential of the state.

He said declaring Manipur dry state was misguided from the point of view of tourism.

He said quality accomadation, hospitality and foods will be the main engine in the effort to enhance high class tourism level .

The opening ceremony was also attended by Hareshwar Goshwani, MCS, deputy secretary, revenue, Government of Manipur, Jyotin Waikhom vice-president, MPYCC and Keisham Sobita, joint director, arts and culture, Government of Manipur as guests of honour and president respectively.

The Chinjak Festival was jointly organized by Innovative youth Development Association and Board of Manipur Chinjak Festival.
