Non local hawker, bus handyman shot in separate incidents

IMPHAL, Nov 8: In yet another incident of attack on non-local, a grocery hawker was hospitlised in critical condition at JN Hospital after being shot at by armed miscreants in the afternoon at Lamlai Bazar, Imphal east district.
The injured man succombed to his injury about 6.30pm and his body is now lying at the RIMS mortuary for post mortem analysis.
The victim was identified as one Sankar Sahu, 23, s/o Hiralal Shahu currently staying at Telipati at a rented apartment (Room No. 5) of one Ramakan Pande.
Sources said the victim had been working in the state for the last 25 years as a hawker of edible oil visiting homes in various part of the state. with his ware.
He was on his way to supply goods at shops located at Lamlai area when armed miscreant shot him.
He sustained three bullet injuries on his body.
In the aftermath of the incident, a team of the Imphal east police along with personnel of concerned police station conducted a search operation in an attempt to apprehend the culprit in an around the area where the incident occurred. However no reports of arrest was received till the filling of this reports.
On the other hand, in a separate incident, a male dead body was recovered by the Wabagai police with bullet injuries and bruise marks on his body this morning around 8 am.
The victim was later identified as one Longjam Boby alias Surjit, 25, s/o (L) Nila of Hiyanglam Tera Pisak a married man.
He was found death in a suspicious manner with his hands tied by a plastic rope and also with bruise mark at his leg and a bullet injury at his upper chest.
According to family sources, the deceased was a handyman of a passenger bus plying from Wabagai to Imphal and had no criminal background or nexus with any militant organisation.
The deceased was staying at the house of the bus owner identified to as one Gunamani of Pangal Siphai Luxmi Bazaar, Thoubal district, said the sources.
Further quoting the version of the owner of the bus, they said that the deceased left the place since four to five days back to take part in the Sradha ceremony of his father in law.
In connection with the incident the Wabagai police registered an FIR case and the corpse of the victim was handed over to the family after post mortem.
