Charge against DC Senapati

The Imphal Free Press

Imphal, July 4: The United Youth Forum, Senapati has accused present deputy commissioner of Senapati, Nidhi Kesharwani of misappropriation of Rs. 98,83,000 meant for the implementation of Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) in the district.

Stating this, L Lalboi, presdent of the forum, during a press conference held this afternoon at Nagaram Community Hall, Imphal, alleged that the present DC had violated the guidelines of the Centre for the implementation of IAY in Senapati district.

He said the DC had committed a blunder by conducting pick and choose selection of IAY benificiaries  which was against the guidelines of the scheme. IAY which is supposed to benefit families living under the poverty line were given to the selected government employees, people living outside the district, to families  of non existent villages and  multiple opportunities to the members of one family etc.

He further mentioned that the matter had been brought up officially to the Seanapati district headquarters by the members of the forum recently and there was evidence of irregularities in selection of beneficiaries of IAY in Senapati by the DC. In this regard, he drew the attention of the state government and concerned authority for taking up necessary action.

Later, K Tennyson, general secretary of the forum, mentioned that the members of the forum while probing the allocation of funds for IAY in Senapati found the fund to have been withdrawn by the DC.
