Two state players in Meghalaya open semis

IMPHAL, Jan 4: Yaiphabi and Suchitra entered ladies single semifinal round and Tuleshor entered veteran single of the 1st Meghalaya Open Tennis tournament 2007 held at Shillong Club started from today.
For this tournament the 11 tennis players from Manipur are participating.
The five state tennis players for men single are out of the tournament. Y Prem lost to Devanath of Assam, N Sanjoy lost to Kouship of Assam, Sanathoi lost to Manoj Sinha of Delhi, Y Ariya lost to Dubakumar of Delhi and Th Suramani lost to Sumit Gupta of Delhi.
In women`s singles first quarter final match Mirena of Manipur lost to Swinatsen of Delhi, while in the 2nd quarter final match Sonia lost to Nelot of Delhi, an All India ranking player.
In the 3rd quarter final match Manipur top seeded player Yaiphabi defeated Priya of Assam while in the last quarter final match Suchitra beat K Bharma of Meghalaya. In the first semifinal match Yaiphabi will clash with Swinatsen of Delhi and in the second semifinal match Suchitra will play India ranking player Nelot of Delhi.
In the 1st quarter final match of Veteran single Jiten from Manipur lost to Rahuldas of Assam. And in the second quarter final match Tuleshor of Manipur beat Robert of Mizoram.
