Civilian hurt in SF firing, bomb explodes at house of IFCD engineer

IMPHAL, Nov 22: A civilian was injured in firing by security forces at Lhaipham Khunou while at least two vehicles were damaged when a bomb exploded at the courtyard of IFCD superintending engineer at Keikhu this evening, reports said.
A civilian identified as Asem Biren Singh, 40, son of Ibotombi of Khurai Thingom Leikai sustained bullet injuries at his left buttock when a combined force of Imphal west police commando and Assam Rifles fired at the Laipham Khunou area under Lamphel police station this evening at around 6.30 pm.
According to a report, Biren sustained injuries when the personnel of the combined force who were on frisking and checking duty fired at some miscreants who ran away when stopped for checking.
The injured person was evacuated to RIMS hospital and his condition is stated to be out of danger.
Meanwhile, the residence of Mv Azizur Rehman SE, irrigation and flood control department at Keikhu under Porompat police station came under attack when a bomb was lobbed by some miscreants suspected to be cadres of an undergroung group tonight at around 8.30 pm.
The bomb exploded in the courtyard of the house, reports said adding that two vehicles parked there were damaged.
Police are yet to establish if any underground group was behind the explosion and till the time of filing this report, none of the underground organizations had claimed responsibility for the attack.
Police also suspect monetary demand to be behind the attack.
