Tsunami relief

IMPHAL, Jan 6: The members of the Shree Digambar Jain Samaj, Manipur donated a sum of Rs. 1 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for providing relief to the tsunami victims. A draft for the amount has been handed over to the Governor, Dr. SS Sidhu, according to a Raj Bhavan communique.

The members of the Associated Chamber of Commerce Charitable Trust, Imphal have also presented a draft of Rs. 20,000 to the Governor as a contribution to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

In the meantime, the state NSS cell, New Secretariat, has collected a sum of Rs. 1.352 today from among the officers and staff members of the secretariat, north block in Imphal on the first day of its fund collection drive for tsunami relief. The amount will be sent to the programme advisor, NSS, Union ministry of youth affairs and sports.

The SFI, Manipur has also announced that it would start collecting donations to extend assistance to the tsunami victims in association with the DYFI.
