State contributes Rs. 15 lakhs for tsunami relief

IMPHAL, Dec 28: The Manipur government today contributed Rs. 15 lakhs to the Prime Minister’s relief fund towards rehabilitation of the tsunami affected people of the country.
This was announced by the Manipur chief minister O Ibobi Singh in New Delhi today.
O Ibobi Singh who is in the national capital for an official engagement while announcing the contribution has also appealed to the state government employees to donate generously a day’s salary to the Prime Minister’s relief fund for the humanitarian cause.
It may be noted that the tsunami which made its debut along the Indian coasts on Sunday had claimed the lives of 8000 people and rendered many homeless.
